Md. Al Masum Khan: Iran’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ali Mousavi, has condemned the Israeli government’s attack on Iran as a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter and the fundamental principles of international law, describing it as a serious threat to global security.
Speaking on Tuesday at a session of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Commons, Ambassador Mousavi said, “This terrorist and criminal act is entirely illegal and crosses all red lines.”
He emphasized that the Israeli attack on a peaceful nuclear facility in Iran not only breaches international regulations but also poses a real threat of radioactive leakage.
According to the Ambassador, although the Israeli government claims to have targeted specific sites, it has in fact struck civilian infrastructure, residential buildings, hospitals, and oil refineries — resulting in the deaths of over 220 civilians and injuries to nearly 1,500 others.
Referring to the attack on the headquarters of Iran’s national television station in Tehran, Mousavi said the Israeli government has once again proven itself to be one of the greatest enemies of press freedom.
He noted that the attack occurred just before the sixth round of indirect negotiations between the Islamic Republic and the United States in Oman.
Mousavi further stated that Washington’s support of the Israeli assault has obstructed the negotiation process, and by supplying weapons and intelligence to Israel, the United States has been complicit in the aggression.
He reaffirmed that under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Iran has the right to defend its people and territorial integrity.
The Ambassador called on the United Nations and independent states to unequivocally condemn the aggression and to take urgent action to hold Israel accountable and put an end to its criminal activities.
